Getting Ahead of the Curve on the DOL's New White Collar Exemption Thresholds and Independent Contractor Classification Regulations: What Employers Need to Know to Minimize Misclassification Risks

On July 23, Washington, D.C., employment services attorneys Jeremy Merkelson, Jaime Walter, Mohamed Barry, and Alicia Hines will discuss the U.S. Department of Labor's (DOL) final rule on classification of independent contractors that went into effect on March 11, 2024. They will also discuss recent changes to the standards governing who is exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act's (FLSA) minimum wage and overtime rules (which have a July 1, 2024, effective date). This webinar will review the new multi-factor test under the DOL's contractor classification rule, the new salary thresholds under the FLSA exemptions, how to assess the potential impact of these changes to your business, and how to effectively communicate with the workforce about needed changes. We look forward to this engaging discussion on best practices and the potential legal challenges that could complicate matters, as well as answering your questions about these DOL rules.
