BOSTON – Seeking its first three-game win streak of the season, the Boston University men's basketball team will visit Loyola Maryland on Saturday (Feb. 1) with tip-off set for 2 p.m.
The Terriers most recently went 2-0 at home with victories over Holy Cross (69-59) and Bucknell (85-82 OT), while the Greyhounds enter the contest on a three-game losing streak with losses vs. the Crusaders (70-65) and Lafayette (80-59) alongside a 79-67 road defeat to the Bison.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- On Monday, BU doubled Holy Cross in second-chance points, 16-8, with the help of a 43-29 advantage in rebounds to now rank 48th nationally in rebound margin (+5.5 rpg).
- The Terriers are 8-3 at home compared to the 3-8 away mark that features wins against UMBC (75-71), Howard (69-62) and Maine (59-56). On the last road trip, they fell at Navy (62-47) and Army West Point (68-62).
- Sophomore Kyrone Alexander leads BU in scoring at 12.7 ppg with classmate Michael McNair also in double figures at 10.5 ppg thanks to a team-high 52 3-pointers.
- Alexander, graduate student Miles Brewster (9.2 ppg) and junior Ben Roy (3.5 ppg) have combined for 6.0 apg and 3.2 spg.
- Senior Malcolm Chimezie (7.7 ppg) reached 10 rebounds for the second time this season against the Crusaders to increase his rebounding average to a team-high 5.4 rpg.
- The Terriers are averaging 66.1 ppg and 43.6 FG% while holding opponents to 67.5 ppg and 44.1 FG%.
SCOUTING LOYOLA MARYLAND
- Owner of a sweep over Lehigh, the Greyhounds are playing at home for the fourth time in six contests, having fallen to Holy Cross, Lafayette and American (73-54) following a 75-74 victory vs. Navy.
- During non-conference play, Loyola earned noted wins against NJIT (68-50), VMI (70-67) and Mount St. Mary's (77-69).
- Loyola has used the same lineup for 19 of 20 games with forward Milos Ilic nearly averaging a double-double at 14.0 ppg and 7.4 rpg.
- Jordan Stiemke and Jacob Theodosiou are also scoring in double figures at an identical 12.3 ppg.
- On the season, Loyola is averaging 69.6 ppg and 43.5 FG% while holding opponents to 71.5 ppg and 45.8 FG%.
- The Greyhounds are only shooting 31.1 3FG% to average 6.8 made 3-pointers per game but are holding opponents to just 7.1 treys a contest.
SERIES HISTORY
- BU leads the all-time series, 19-7, having won 10 of the last 11 meetings with an active six-game win streak.
- In the last three games though, BU has only won by a combined six points with an 82-79 OT win at home along with 60-58 and 68-67 victories at Reitz Arena.
- Last season, Anthony Morales ('24) scored 24 points on the road with 19 coming in the second half to help the Terriers overcome an 18-point deficit, and Alexander totaled 23 at home.
LOOKING AHEAD
- The Terriers will return home to host Navy on Wednesday (Feb. 5) with a 7 p.m. tip.
- Navy won the first meeting, 62-47, back on Jan. 22.
- Teams are playing at Case Gym for the first time since BU eliminated the Midshipmen in the 2024 PL quarterfinals, 70-61.
