Several Oshawa residents took to social media to report they spotted a large plume of smoke near Lakeview Park Tuesday. Authorities are yet to confirm if there is a fire in the area.

Oshawa, situated on the shores of Lake Ontario, is a city in Ontario, Canada. Positioned in Southern Ontario, it rests roughly 60 km (37 mi) to the east of Downtown Toronto.

Earlier on Tuesday, Whitby firefighters extinguished an early morning building fire on Warren Road. The fire service responded to a "confirmed fire" in the vicinity of Hopkins Street and Warren Road before 1 a.m. local time on May 7.

Whitby, located approximately 6.5 kilometers from Oshawa, typically takes around 12 minutes by car, subject to traffic conditions.
